I stripped the USGI stock all the way down to the fiberglass underneath (including removing the textured brown USGI paint which was a process in itself) and will be using either Aluma-hyde or Aervoe to paint (or a combination of both). Mil Spec is a reference that has been used to mean the above or a company or person believes they have followed the design parameters of an accepted USGI item and advertises it as Mil Spec.
